Unseen Passage
(Literary – Bengali Literature in English)
Adapted from
Rabindranath Tagore's "Kabuliwala"
In the busy
streets of Calcutta, a little girl named Mini chattered endlessly. Her father,
a writer, enjoyed her lively talk. One day, a tall Afghan man, wrapped in a
loose robe and turban, appeared at their doorstep selling dry fruits. His name
was Rahmat, the Kabuliwala. Mini was at first afraid, but soon they became
friends.
Rahmat would
bring almonds and raisins for Mini and listen to her innocent stories. He
missed his own daughter back in Kabul. Years passed. One day, Rahmat returned
after a long time, but Mini had grown up and no longer remembered him. The bond
was lost in time—but not in memory.
